Thanks Colin. Your phone reviews video was great, but for those who are having financial issues this is a great value for them. I appreciate all you do. Hopefully you an come up here to Orange County, NY.

+Franz Constancio I hope to too. My girlfriends family lives in Oswego County and there was some possible mention of a road trip from there to North Carolina so you never know where I’ll stop along the way

+Collin Williams … now you’re going from a worldwide audience to a US audience. Too bad. Thumbs down.

+Duarte Teixeira 🙂 for this particular piece yes. Worldwide cell phone service would require a video even longer then my normally over long videos.
I made sure to also release a Protips video (Protips 6) video for everyone worldwide. But with 49% of my viewers US based and cell phones being a personal area of expertise I figured I should share the knowledge

+Collin Williams Don’t take me wrong, I’m not saying your video ain’t useful, even more if half of your viewers are in the US, I was just saying that, in this case, for half of your viewers, this video have very few interest.
I’ll keep on viewing you’re videos, and let that this change to thank you for making them (and for being on the right side of the force) 🙂

I realize you’re speaking nation wide. In the Dallas area of Texas AT&T is strongest imo

Not sure if this is a tip or not but for t mobile players who do the $50 prepay option, normally you only get 1G 4G however if you go to the t mobile app and then to bulling, you will find a 3G plan for the same price and you can do instant upgrade and it costs you nothing! Three times the ingress for free!

I used that $45 Straight Talk plan for a while until I found out MetroPCS had a $60 plan with unlimited everything and NO high speed data cap.

I know that the ‘no high speed data cap’ might not be important for ingress play but I love being able to stream video all month long so I thought that was worth mentioning.

+Matt Smith Metro’s running T-mobile’s network that eats it anywhere outside cities which eliminates a lot of portals

+Collin Williams Oh, interesting. Good thing I don’t travel much.

Yeah technically Straight talk does as well if you end up on a T version phone or bring in a T-mobile phone. T-mobile’s decent on metro, but as you can see from this root metrics testing (  http://www.rootmetrics.com/us/blog/special-reports/year-in-review-2014-us ) eats it on state and nationwide levels

You didn’t talk about scatch wireless, WiFi calling all free

Reply
Collin Williams - posted on October 21, 2015 12:56 pm

+Kenneth Marimow I didn’t mention them because they are only 100% free on WiFi and playing ingress only on Wifi is like boxing with 2 hands tied behind your back. you can do it, but you won’t win or get good fast. When you look at scratches data it’s $25 for only 1GB off WiFi which makes them far more expensive than everyone else especially since that price doesn’t also include calling.

The straight talk one applies to all phones not just Verizon. I’m not a fan of CDMA so I put an unlocked AT&T phone on Straight talk with LTE. The network logo at the top of the screen even says AT&T, not straight talk. They don’t throttle the speeds either(at least not to the extent)like they do on cricket. Cricket is limited to 8mbps down. I average LTE 14-18mbps down on the Straight Talk at&t Sim, 6-10 on hspa+, and 150-200kbps on 2g which is surprisingly fast enough for everything I do on my phone internet except watching videos.

Hi, what do think of virgin mobile?

Reply
Collin Williams - posted on December 28, 2015 7:28 pm

+Jonathonn77 Virgin piggybacks off sprint and doesn’t accept GSM phones, so for the $35 price (first one with real data) I’d go cricket on autopay instead ($35 as well)

Total Wireless (Verizon network). $25 per month, $10 for 5gb of data that never expire with active service. And a 30 dollar phone plays Ingress just fine.
