It’s not the end. The market is just saturated.

hello there yes, people who use their smartphone to game probably will upgrade yearly, but those who don’t won’t.

The next phase is having smart phone capabilities in your head. Ghost in the shell level Skype calls and internet access, anyone?

Im still using a note 3. It’s just starting to mysteriously have weak signals in different places. Planned obsolescence.

Ask yourself if your data getting into Chinese or US hands would do you more harm.
ReplyTails - posted on February 12, 2019 8:32 am
They aren’t that unknown anymore – Huawei. All the features of Apple or Samsung (some cases, better features) but 30-40% cheaper.
ReplyAhmad M - posted on February 17, 2019 12:53 am
+Mark cbay Samsung is made in Korea. iPhones are made in China. While all the dumb iPhone idiots think there made in USA just because there headquarters are here. What a bunch of idiots.

ReplyJerry G - posted on January 26, 2019 5:42 am
I don’t think smartphones are dying out, it just the big companies like Samsung and Apple are.
ReplyBecause people are realizing they can get a cheaper phone for way less than them two companies that does the same thing.
I sold my Samsung Galaxy S9 and brought myself a Xiaomi Mi a2 Lite for $190 that has the same amount of gigs on the phone as the S9 does.
I can’t tell the difference in between the two at all on the performance, because they run about the same.
The plus side of the Xiaomi phone I’m using, that it has Android One on it. Meaning I’m going to get a couple of years of updates on it.
Which the S9 I might had just gotten a year’s worth of updates on it if I’m lucky.
So which one is better?
The Samsung Galaxy S9 that is still around $500 plus, or the Xiaomi MI a2 Lite for $190?
Both has 4 gigs of ram and 64 gigs of rom, the only difference are the cameras on both of the phones. Yes hands down the S9 camera is way better, but I can live with that to save a lot of money.
Don Addison - posted on January 30, 2019 11:48 pm
Are you in the US? If so what carrier are you using the Xiaomi on?

ReplyREAC Guru - posted on January 31, 2019 8:17 pm
You’re missing the point – which is that the era of expensive smart phones is over… the era of Apple and others suckering you into spending $600-$1000 for a phone, when a $200 phone can do everything you want. You made that point perfectly yourself.

We techies reached this decision 3-4 years ago. Note 3 and equivalent iphone were leap forward (both HW and SW) and deserved the money. No leap forward since then. The next one deserving the money will be the folding screen (tablet size but folding in to half)
ReplyArijit Dasgupta - posted on February 1, 2019 10:22 pm
I switched from my Note 5 to honor play a few weeks ago. The Note 5 served me well for over 3 years and I wanted a Note 8, but the prices were way too high. So i went for Honor since it was cheaper and did what I wanted.

Smartphones are suffering from the same corporate stupidity that every other product in the world is. Idiot MBAs want to produce inferior products, crammed with spyware and corporate nannying, that break quickly and can’t be modified or repaired, then charge me a fortune for them. Sorry. Take a time out and think about what you’ve done. I’m sitting tight with my Note 4. It will be replaced with another Note 4 from eBay when it breaks. When these jokers get serious about consumers again, we can talk.
Replyglitch gamer - posted on February 6, 2019 6:56 am
Those MBAs aren’t idiots they are very intelligent to sell people crap but the people are idiot to buy crap for $1500 like a xsmax..lol 5watt charging phone..with no type c 3.0 port..

The only reason I have seen to buy a new phone is the glued in battery dying. I’m convinced that’s the reason they all went away from easily user replaced batteries.
ReplyJohn Armstrong - posted on February 13, 2019 5:26 am
There is no way it takes 5 minutes to change the battery out of the back of a newer samsung. Its glued in with glass back that cracks into a million pieces. They obviously didn’t want you changing it.

I am using SG Note 4, felt really going when buying that the battery can be replaced. Bought an original battery from Samsung it’s even worse than the original one (bought the phone in 2015). The phone literally turned off at 30% when using Snapchat with a freaking new battery. Funny enough my friend also has this phone and compains about battery life. This is the main reason I’m switching this year, I’m so done with my phones battery life at this point. Also after 3.4 years of use I feel like it’s about time to get my hands on something new. I wouldn’t be in a hurry if it wasn’t for the battery tho.
